I went outside and was lying on my back looking at the stars as they came on (yeah, real romantic I know) and I thought of an interesting metaphor. Some people might kill me for this one, but when I went inside to turn off the porchlight so I could see better I thought of this:
Sometimes when people flock towards a bright light, like people did to Jesus, they are so close to it that they can't see anything or anyone beyond it, all they see is that light, and refuse to think that there might be other lights out there because they are too afraid to leave it. And because they can't see all the other stars out there, they can't be open to any new ideas.
Wasn't trying to be offensive to Jesus, just saying that too much light can leave you as blind as total darkness. Odd thoughts when I'm alone at night.
