Okay, onto the backup plan
Dec. 14th, 2010 10:12 amOkay, uber Ryu back up plan is in effect since the MSPCA confirmed that no, they do not have the facilities to board "exotics" but are looking into getting them in the future. I've always been slightly confused as to what exactly an exotic pet is as opposed to say, a bird or a ferret, but it seems they make a distinction.
At least they were nice about it and said they hoped I'd find another place to board her, which I have, so it's not as annoying as it could be. The only thing I wish they'd done is try to point me towards people who could help, but since I already found people that's a moot point in my case. I also liked that they actually referred to Ryu by name instead of "your pet"/"your gecko", which for someone who loves a pet really does make a difference on the do-they-give-a-damn scale, and the folks at the MSPCA rank a 10 out of 10 with me after I've worked with them and used their hospital for her. They also got her gender right, which a lot of people don't (though to be fair the most commonly known character named Ryu is male and it's technically a gender neutral word, which was intentional on my part because I wasn't 100% sure whether she was male or female when I got her, so I wanted to cover my bases).
So unless I hear something before tomorrow, Weymouth it is! And I just got off the phone with the woman from my class, and she's still up for taking me down there tomorrow. Good thing, too, because now the forecast is saying that it's likely to snow tomorrow, so the last thing I'd want to be doing is having to carry an ectothermic creature around in the cold.
Yup, I'm definitely cashing in on the good karma, so I'll have to make sure to be extra nice to people.
