Oh no not again!

I'm afraid that another pet of ours is in health trouble. This time it's Ryu the leopard gecko (seen here a few years ago). It looks like she somehow swallowed a black hair or a thread, and I can see the other end coming out of her. I brought this up on a reptile forum and they suggested waiting until it got out on its own, but two days later it doesn't appear to have moved much at all.
I called up a vet down in Pelham who knows about reptiles, and when I told him what was going on it was very obvious from his tone that this has the potential to be very bad. He said that if it's somehow become wrapped around her intestine it's very bad indeed, and will more or less kill her. There's still the possibility that she'll naturally pass it out, which is the outcome we're hoping for at this point. He suggested giving her some olive oil since it may help it along, but other than than I'm feeling very helpless.
But the good news is that aside from showing discomfort from my attempt to gently pull it out her mood seems fine, so at least she doesn't appear to be in pain. The really frustrating thing is that I have no idea where this thing came from. It's a long, thick black hair, so it obviously doesn't belong to any of us, and I don't know where it came from.
But damn it, I've had enough pet problems lately, and I've already had to put one horse down lately. I don't want to have to do it again. I can just pray she'll be okay at this point.
