*sigh* Anyway, I had my work orientation today. What's amazing is that I'm actually getting paid for the time I was there, even though it was just training. Granted it was only 2 hours, but that's better than nothing. So after filling out what seemed like an endless stream of forms, although luckily I only had to do the minimum with tax stuff since I'm a student, we had a somewhat silly run through of the "formula" of how to operate the register and the different stuff that's offered. It was actually quite helpful though it felt a bit childish, but I guess that's how you learn this stuff. And I'll get my "uniform" (really just a shirt) and some more training tomorrow. Scott, the regional manager, is actually a fairly nice guy, while the head of this branch, a guy named Adam, is a rather high-strung fellow. Read: He's nuts.
At least he's an amusing idiot. I know I should reserve judgment until I get to know him, but as first impressions go that was a really shitty one! The other person and I kept exchanging glances when this guy wasn't looking. The other person is a year behind me in school, and while I don't recall his name (I think it was Jeremy or something similar) he was a nice enough kid. The other person who was working was consistantly rolling his eyes at Adam the high-strung manager, and why he didn't talk too much I didn't get anything bad off of him. Tomorrow I go in a 12pm until 7:30pm, so that should be an interesting day.
Edit: I'm actually going back in Wednesday. I'm totally messed up as to what day it is, what with now being out of school and hence losing my ability to track what day it is. Ack!
