The other day I went down to Puffer's Pond to do a little swimming and sunning to make up for the fact that I had to miss our church picnic due to work on Sunday, and after I chickened out as far as the swimming part went (too cold!) I was going back to my stuff and this guy who was also up there asked me if I was French-Canadian, since I just had "that look" about me.
Buh? That's a new one. In retrospect, the funny part of that was that I was putting on my glasses at the same time, and they happen to be made in France. I replied something to the effect of "No, Irish," but it was still pretty weird. There were also the requisite obnoxious children and parents down there, but there was only one set. And now I don't look quite so pale on my legs, what with the Irish skin type of either looking like a ghost or a lobster, though I've managed the middle ground so far.
In other news, I stayed home today and beat Metal Gear Solid -- finally. I think I have a bit of a twitch in my thumb now from doing that, since I was playing for around 3 hours (with a few sanity breaks, stupid Liquid and his nigh-indestructible-ness) but I finished it! I also said "Aww..." out loud when Snake and Otacon tell each other their real names at the end.
And it looks like my chances of being rained out at work tomorrow have gone up from 50% to 80% if the most recent weather forecast is right. That's good, since it will mean less of a crunch when it comes to going to get whatever award they're giving me at the high school. I'm still wondering exactly what they're giving me, but hopefully it involves some monetary sum to help out with the next stage of my education, but we can only hope.
