Wherein Ro describes a weird pet peeve
Jan. 20th, 2011 01:16 amI have a few odd pet peeves, especially when it comes to words. And here's a big one that often gets set off considering that I like to watch the Food Network, and subsequently see the commercials on it.
Veggies. Is it really that much harder to say Vegetables? It's only one or two more syllables depending on how you say it (veg-e-ta-bles or veg-ta-bles) and it's not that hard a word to say.
But when people say veggies it just sounds so... juvenile, like something you say to a kid, but it's on packaging, in commercials, everywhere. And I just hate it and it annoys me every time I hear it, and I can just imagine some marketing bozo decided that they weren't going to say vegetables anymore to be "kid friendly" or some other horseshit like that. You don't need to treat adults like they're 5 years old.
So that's today's little conniption.
