Yeah, should be asleep by now. However, while I was walking down the stairs a pain somewhat equivalent to a 5 Richter menstrual cramp hit me (luckily I was near the bottom of the stairs and grabbed the rail) and I'm still trying to figure out just what that was.
Luckily because of the rain I didn't have to go to work, which was a nice break. I finished a small piece of writing I'd been doing in my spare time seeing as I've had a resurgence of my oft-neglected writer's genes in the past few days for some reason. Still in the process of tinkering with the language on the piece but the preliminary bits are done.
Speaking of language, I was wondering why it is that when I read something of mine certain words just don't fit and I feel the need to change them. I wonder if it's a result of writing poetry and studying Russian, a very lyrical language. I make pretty liberal use of the synonym key in Word when I write to find just the right word in a place (though I occasionally turn to a book thesaurus when I need one). I also tend to go over and delete excess phrases that slow reading down, something probably learned from my parents the accomplished reporters they were. I swear to god it's hardwired in me, or maybe it's growing up around all those books.
I've also been thinking that I want to keep writer, but not become a writer per se. Writing to me seems like something that would be wrecked were I to make a career out of it, it's almost like music, something I truly love but would never want to make a career. Hopefully they'll still be oppurtunities to do it wherever I end up, if only as a hobby for myself.
Maybe I can lure a cat to sleep with me tonight. Stella's apparently claimed my laundry basket as her domain (which often results in her ending up with a sweater on her head since she more often than not blends in with my clothes so well) and has come over to me a few times though she always wakes me up to get out at some point. I'd keep the door open but for my weird sense of privacy. Let's just say it might be awkward if someone walks in when I'm sleeping, since I prefer to be au naturale simply because it's most comfortable. *ahem*
Anyway, should get to bed. Another week, another chance.

I feel the same way about art as you do writing. I love drawing; and sculpting, but I'm not sure if I'd make it my career. Some passions are best left hobbies, I suppose. You could always try to publish something every now and again, if you felt the urge.

Date: 2006-11-14 12:16 am (UTC)When you are ovulating, it's normal to feel very brief and intense cramps around your ovaries (to either side of your abdomen - about hip level). For people our age, who still have pretty irregular cycles, ovulation can happen anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks before you get your period. So if you continue to experience these pains for more than a few days, it's something to worry about...but this is probably just normal.
Now was that too much information or what?
P.S. When I sleep naked, sometimes my brother comes in (he never knocks) and sits down on my bed and I'm like "Ummm...can you leave now so I can get out of bed?" and it's wicked awkward. So yeah...
