Holy crap.

The main headlines on FOX News: A person pulling kid's pants down in a bookstore, a hit puppy, a guy beat up with his own prosthetic leg, and you wouldn't even know that there as a debate between the candidates for governor.

The frightening thing is that the person who trained me at my job considered FOX to be "fair and accurate coverage."

It's fair to say they're accurately hitting whatever audience they're aiming at.

Watched this really interesting video in Journalism today saying that the myth of the liberally-slanted media is false, because the media (except the Internet, of course -- yay online democracy!!!) is owned by the same kind of obscenely wealthy, corporate, soulless scum that owns everything else in the country. And their biases are naturally reflected in the news produced by their networks. Also, conservatives create corporate think-tanks to produce acceptably conservative, ready-made experts that news reporters can quote on almost any issue. As if that wasn't bad enough, advertisers also have a huge amount of control over the content of the news, because the most money in the news industry comes from advertisers. They can pull their ads if they don't like the news being produced, then the network doesn't make enough money to support itself, etc.

That was a depressing video. The news is also pretty depressing much of the time. We need to have, like, an optimistic newspaper. Just one that only reports positive news to cheer you up after reading all the doom and gloom stuff.
