Well, laptop's back in working order, and it turns out that the problem wasn't TCP or IP or anything else like that.
The school fucking blocked me because I accidentally left Bittorrent running because I forgot to disable it after coming back from home.
I mean, what? Would it have killed them to let me know that they'd done that rather than have me run around like a headless chicken wondering if something was wrong with my laptop while being horribly inconvenienced and wasting the time of their tech guys? I mean, how the hell was I supposed to know when I couldn't even connect to the damn network? For the last time I'm an empath, not a fucking telepath!
*breathes* So anyway, he got me back on it and admitted that the admins are rather block-happy, but they were horribly unspecific about what was block-worthy in the information they gave us at the beginning of the year. They mention LimeWire, but I don't use LimeWire, I don't even use iTunes! What were they thinking?! *headdesk*
So, once that was sorted out I finally got to get back to doing what I needed to do, and got a lesson in that yes, I am totally reliant on this thing. I also ordered a few more textbooks on Amazon while internally wincing at the prices, though they're better than the college bookstore. One book I need cost $80 new, to which I said hell no and got used online for half of that.
I also just realized when looking at my orders online that I accidentally bought in the bookstore the same book I ordered yesterday. God damn it! I'll have to return the one I bought in person tomorrow, since the online one cost a good half as much as the one I got at the store. *headdesk* My brain has really been frazzled these past few days, and not having the laptop so I could check really didn't help.

>>smiles>> teasing ya... sounds like you needed someone to needle ya about a bit.
