Plans for today

Oh yeah, skipped church this morning because A.) I overslept B.) I've been sneezing a lot since last night and probably shouldn't be handling food for other people. A was directly influenced by B since I'm also pretty stuffed up at the moment, though it's abated since last night when I was having trouble breathing and kept waking up. Stupid allergies. Must be the trees again, since they tend to kick my ass at this time of year.

Later on I'm going to meet up with Sara and go to the Garment District, and it sounds like she needs a break. It's a fun place and I think she'll like it.

I also need to remember to get change for laundry today since I'm reaching the critical dirty clothes threshold, which is to say I'm almost out of underwear. As I think I've said before college students are willing to wear something again for anything else, but that's where to draw the line.

I also made cookies last night before the sneezes set in (mostly because I was bored and it was sort of icky out), so we once again have sweet things sitting around in the apartment. I'm bad like that, but no one has complained yet.

Krys also had an interesting observation the other day. The first time he saw me with Sara I was sitting down in a typically "male" posture (which is to say I was slouching a bit with my knees apart and my hand on my belt) while Sara was sitting up straight and very "lady like". We didn't intend to do it, but he said he thought it was really funny. Of course I'm the one who cooks, so it's not as easy to break it down as that, but it's still amusing.

If it makes any difference in my family, my father and I cook more than my mother.

That was the case with my grandparents too, my grandfather Jim was always in charge of Thanksgiving and the like. Just goes to show that these things have never been as clear cut as some like to think.

I noticed the same posture picture with you and Sara in the vacation to Cape Cod? at the restaurant picture. You had your arm on the back of the chair if I remember correctly. I don't think that there are any rules on who should do what in today's society. I think it would be personally wonderful if my husband started to be a little bit more domestic.

Well, by definition me and Sara already muck with the traditional roles, and I know quite a few (straight) men these days who enjoy cooking and similar things. I think the whole metrosexual subculture has helped that become more acceptable, and I approve of the lines being blurred.
