Oh man.. PEDA would be up in arms about that. I feel a little silly now. But, really...I am glad it was a joke. I really do think there are crazy enough people out there that do those types of things. Thank you for telling me.. made me want to cry. Like they were being cruel to a little child.

The fact that you could see it really happening is part of the joke, especially the deadpan presentation. My professor was sent it by a colleague who thought it was real too.

The Onion specializes in pretty dark satire, and they've managed to fool people who think their stories are real news multiple times.
