Remind me not to make self-congratulatory posts before things are actually over.
By which I mean the plan today got FUBARed on account of the woman who was going to drive me coming down with the flu and me decided that it was too risky, so it's pushed back until tomorrow and via another friend of mine.
But in case this too gets FUBARed I managed to solve the biggest problem with leaving Ryu here in the apartment, mainly water, through a little last-minute engineering. She's gained enough weight back that she can survive not eating for two weeks (and it helps that what I've been giving her is specifically intended to build up her fat reserves) but she absolutely needs water and there won't be people here to refill it.
So I did a search for self-filling water bowls to see if any were being sold nearby, and I more or less bastardized the basic design using what I had on hand. And so:

It more or less operates by gravity and the bottle stands up by its own weight, and though you can't see it there's a bit I cut out of the bottle under the water so it will flow into the bowl. When the water level in the bowl goes down water will come out the bottle to replenish it, but due to the way water pressure works it won't go any higher. I added the duct tape to hold it up, but it seems pretty secure.
I also called the vet in a panic and she instructed me how to lower the temperature just enough that her metabolism will slow down but not enough that she'll get sick again. So while leaving her alone isn't ideal it's now doable.
So yeah. *flop* Either way we're good, more or less.
