Is it a bad thing that I got most of these jokes?

Mom and I just got back from taking the kayaks out on Lake Wyola. Luckily the morons with motorboats have retired for the season, so there were no hollering people causing big waves and scaring off the wildlife. So, the animal tally was:

1 great blue heron, who let me watch it for a minute before flying off
1 red eared slider (turtle) who was sunning on a piece of an old dock
1 big-ass wolf spider who was somehow in the cockpit *shiver*

I left the spider alone, but very nearly screamed when I saw it on my leg. It then jumped off and hid under my seat. Yeagh! I usually don't mind spiders, but that thing was too big and too close. Honestly, it was the size of a fricking tarantula. Hopefully it's "jumped ship" by now and gone to build its nest somewhere else.

In other news I got in the mail the "Holy Bible" of Russian verbs, 501 Russian Verbs, fully conjugated in all tenses, that mom ordered from Amazon for me. Definately need it for this clas. Now I need to put my name in big letters on both covers and the spine so the other people don't lift it. The class cleaned out all the books in the town, hence why Amazon was used.

And I find this strangely appropriate for some reason:

I love Ancient and Medieval Literature. It's by far my favorite class this trimester of all the classes, and it actually makes you think as opposed to just taking notes.

So far we've read Inanna and Gilgamesh from Sumer and are currently reading The Ramayana from India. I've found all three to be amazing so far, and at some point we'll be doing Tale of Genji as well. I've been interested in mythology since I was barely able to read (thanks to two literary parents and a house full of books, including an entire illustrated series on mythology that was a favorite for years) and it's cool to be reading some of the stuff I read about when I was 8 again.

I think I'll actually try to get my hands on something called The Upanisads, which are related to The Ramayana and are "dialogues and meditations on the nature of existence, the soul and the universe." Lately I've gotten my interest in that area pequed again, which is a good thing. I've always found it downright amazing that back in the "dark ages" people had ideas very close to what we now know to be true through physics and science. Just goes to show that there's a kernel of truth in everything.

And I'm planning on finishing my Kenshin fanmix tonight, just putting the final touches on it. Next I think I'll do a Tomoe one.

We attain full understanding only when we are aware of the divine and other associations of every piece of ground we tread on. Otherwise it would be like the passage of a blind man through illuminated halls and gardens.
