UNC Chapel Hill sent me a letter saying that I didn't make it as a semi-finalist with the scholarship. I guess someone deserved it more than I do, but if I still manage to get into the school I'll try to go there.
And, as my Mom pointed out, this actually prevents me from being shackled to the Creative Writing Program as the scholarship would have had me be, so this means that if I end up there I can pursue what I want instead of what would be required. And knowing me (read: independent, stubborn) it's probably a good thing. And at the very least it gave the kick in the pants to get some of my writing stuff together and put together a decent portfolio.
But it was worth a shot, and at least I won't have to live with wondering what might have happened if I'd not applied. And I'm sure in the long run they'll have done me a favor... somehow.
