Dec. 21st, 2004 10:13 pmStill somewhat excited about finding my master's name on the net. Anegakoji Yoshiyori. Hmm.
Also remembering something that happened with Kurogane. He only called me by my real name, Kazuma, once, and he was struck for it. Not by me. We were setting up a trap to get some Yakuza, and I was going to use myself as bait. He was obviously in love with my in retrospect, so he very quietly said, "Kazuma..."
Big no-no. He should have called me "Kaijo", which is what he usually said. In Japan back then only close friends or family members, your own rank, could call you by your name with no title, "-san, -sama," etc. So he was slapped by one of my superiors, because to him I was none of these things. I winced when that happened. The person who slapped him said, "Don't speak so crudely to your commanding officer!" And later, some bastard I knew suggested that maybe I was getting a bit "too close" to my unit since they addressed me that way. Grr. What an slimy idiot.
