In other news, on Project Samurai I actually managed to get some exposition done and blend it in with the rest of it in a fairly decent way. I'm rather proud of myself. ^_^

I had been using letters to someone within the story to do part of that, but I managed to work a bit into some dialog and introduce a character in one fell swoop. So at least I managed to something productive today, even if it was minor.

I also changed my default icon to the pixel avatar I made earlier. Take from it what you will, but it's the first time I've used an icon that has a (representation) of my actual face and not another character.

Is that really something worthy of congratulations? I mean she was the only one of them who didn't get her name Americanized for no apparent reason >.>;

I didn't actually know that about her name not being localized. It was a little bit before my time, I guess. ^_^

heh- yeah, of all the dub, her's was the only name not altered, while Ami and Rei just got spelling changes the others got their names completely fucked with. T_T It was terrible.

Current explication behind the (lack of) name change is that Hotaru was initially thought to be a villain, so the dubbing company didn't "localize" the name.

Sailor Moon reference FTW. ^_^ While not my first anime, Sailor Moon was my introduction to fandom; I've actually gotten back into quite it heavily here recently (aforementioned fic project is a series of Rei/Minako drabbles and one shots). The community on a whole produces a lot of great fanwork, but unfortunately, is also renowned for its asshattery. Also, if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that the Sailor Moon dub is a reason why so many anime fans these days shy away from dubs. It's just that much of a travesty.
