Before I was distracted by the Jon Keller stuff (see below) I was doing this. We now return to our regular scheduled LJing.

First day back at GCC was today, I think I've got some good classes.

The Constitutional Law teacher is obviously a kickass woman, and launched right into it by having us starting thinking about making our own fictional "country" that we'll come back to on occasion and what laws we'd want to have there. I added "right to remain innocent until proven guilty" and needing warrants for search and seizure. It's very interesting, and I think it'll be a great class. The only awkward part is that the teacher's name is Stella, which she insists on being called as opposed to "Ms. Xanthakos"... but that is also our cat's name! So it might be a little bit awkward. ^_^;

The next class, English and Film, revolves around watching and reading things and analyzing them for things like structure, themes, techniques etc. The teacher is a British guy name Simon Walsh, and his wit is dry, and by that I mean "dry enough to be used as kindling" dry. But I like him, and that will probably be a great class for me.

Next I had Sociology, and that teacher also has a sense of humor, though it's much more deadpan than anything else. She had all the tables read an article and discuss it, with topics ranging from people on Facebook-esque type sites talking about their dogs to the double-standard of crack cocaine getting much harsher sentences than powder cocaine. I ended up sitting at a table that was entirely female, which the teacher actually brought up as part of the class discussion.

Overall I think I'll enjoy this semester, and on Thursday I'll sell back the books from last semester to offset some of this semester's costs. If I've done the math right it should just about break even. But the funny thing is that in even just being back today I could feel the creative juices getting started in me again, and I managed to do some work on Project Samurai during my lunch break.

So yeah. Remembering why I love that place. ♥

Good luck with the new semester. Sounds like you are taking some interesting classes. Why couldn't I take any cool classes like those?

Good luck with selling your books back, it was always a guessing game as to which books I could sell back. Fortuntately there were three bookstores (one university-run, the other two independants) that I could try and sell books back to. Sometimes one wouldn't take a book back, but another would. Don't expect to get the full price of your text books back. IN my experience you'll be lucky if you get half price for them. Gotta love that mark up.
